William Bendy was committed for trial at Christchurch yesterday on a charge of forging the name of M, Hanna to an order to Mr Pratt, solicitor, for certain plumbing work. He was in the habit of calling at houses during the absence of the proprietors, representing he was .sent to do plumbers' work, which he did io a careless style, and obtained payment from whoever was in the house, The following students of the Otago University have passed the final examioadons for the degree of Bachelor of Medicine, viz : Messrs Barclay, Copeland, and Deamer. .p" Frederick Stelver, answering the description of a man wanted by the Christchurch police for forgery, was arrested at Dunedin on Saturday on the arrival of the express, and brought before the Beuoh yesterday. He was remanded till Wednesday. A thunderstorm passed over the Waikato district on Saturday afternoon. A violent south wind blew, accomp>tni'-.d by a fall of snow, which whitened the streets v of Hamilton. Snow also fell at Kawhia. Thera was a hailstorm at the Thames. U was fins at Auckland.
