GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of this - Board was was held on Tuesday evening last. Present —Messrs W. S. Maslin (chairman), J. Mundell, E. Taylor, J. "Williams, N. Dunlop, AWhite and A. Sherratt. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows Prom Mr B. O’Brien, drawing attention to the road in front of his property. —It was resolved to spend the 7 mm of 15s in repairing the same. From the Manager, Bank of H.S.W., Geraldine, in reply to one from the Board, re asphalting the footpath in front of the Presbyterian church, and : asking for further particulars. Prom Mr S. Hewlings re the same, declining to bear part of the cost of asphalting the footpath, — The clerk ~ was instructed to write to Mr * Hewlings again. Mr E. Morrison, Geraldine, wrote calling the attention of the Board to

the water running over his paddock from the road during wet weather. —lt was decided to remedy the same, the cost not to exceed £l.

From Messrs N. Dunlop and Co., claiming compensation for shingle taken from their property. —It was decided to fill up and level the pit to the satisfaction of Messrs N. Dunlop and Co.

From Messrs Smithson, Eaymoud, and Smith, re the leasing of reserves. From Mr T. Herlihy asking for a pipe culvert to be put in in the water table in front of his section. —It was decided to attend to the matter. otbesebe’s eepoet.

The Overseer’s report was read as follows : “ I have the honor to state that the asphalt has been completed under the Town Board, also for private individuals as far as applications have been received, at a total cost of £lB7 Bs, including £2O Is 6d for private persons. 1 estimated the work under the Board would cost £219 6s, including kerbing. These figures, which I know to be correct, will show a direct saving of £sl 19s 6d by having the work done by day work under my direct supervision instead of by contract. All the work is done that has been authorised by the Board, namely : the culvert near Mr Pearpoint’s, the hand floating of the asphalt laid down two years ago, and all the other works authorised. The receipts for the month have been as follows: Rents, £l9 5s 9d ; rates, etc., £lO 12s Gd; total, £29 18s 3d, —I am, etc., “ C. F. Sheeeatt, “ Overseer.” The report was considered highly satisfactory. PLEASANT TALLEE EOAD. Mr A. White asked lor some improvements to be made on the footpath on the Pleasant Valley road, and it was decided that the Works Committee should report on the matter at the next meeting. EATES. It was decided to allow defaulters one month in which to pay their rates, any outstanding after that time to be sued for without further notice, accounts. Accounts amounting to £55 9s were passed for payment, and a meeting of the LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH was held. INSPECTOR OB’ NUISANCES' REPORT. The Inspector of Nuisances’ report was read, and as it called for no action being taken the Board adjourned.
