The S&lvation Array meetings under direction of Oomm mdanfc H. H. Booth, concluded at Christchurch on Friday night with a misßionarymeeting, at which £6l was raised. During the week £l5O wan raised for Salvation Army purposes. Ths commiitee of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association have agreed lo co-operate with the Nortli Otago Association in procuring a longfr quarantine for stock imported from Australia. A telegram from B'enheim says, by the fire the timber was all destroyed except, £7O worth. All the portion insurod in the Royal was destroyed. Great uneasiness provails, as it is believed there is a fire reiser in the plnce. Oni of the. papers urges the appo : ntment of a vigilancs committee. Tha gale was severely felt in the Oarmni dialricr. Two booths at the racecourse wer« damaged, the roof of one being blown off, and the other waacomp'ete'y destroyed. The fences a'ao suffered greasy. At Karow, Duntroon and Ngapara chimneys wera blown down, windows smashed, and trees uprooted. During the ga'e the outhouses at Maheno school cuight fire and were destroyed, as were a buggy, harness and articles, belonging to the schoolmaster. There was no insurance.
