TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Tomuka Town Board was held last night. Present —Mesera J. Blyth, G, J. Mason, P. Coira, and !S. Clinch. In the absence of the chairman, Mr Blyth was voted to the thalr, minutes. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was considered si follows . From Mr J. T. M. Hayhurst, asking that his name might be substituted on the roll for that of Mrs Heap, in respect of sections 17, 317, 818, 329, and 320. Mrs Heap wrote agreeing to the same. —The alteration to be made. A. telegram was received from the Property Tax Department requesting the Board to give Mr Pilbrow, the assessor, access to the rsts roll whsn necessary, A circular was received from Messrs Shand, Mason and Co., covering price*, etc., of fire engines. THE BOARD’S RESERVE. The regulation with reg«rd to the reserve lately leased by the Board not having been complied with, it wasresolv.ni that notice be given the lessee, and if the 6 months'rent as agreed be not paid by the 16th, the next highest tender be accepted. resignation. Mr George Dyson, the clerk, tendered hie resignation as clerk, etc., and gave the customary month’s notice. Mr Mason moved that the resignation of the clerk be accepted with regret. He felt that individually the members regretted the loss of Mr Dyson’s services. It was resolved to invite applications for the position of clerk and overseer, the same to bo considered at a special meeting to be held on Oct. 24th. The ovorseei’s report was read and considered as follows; — "Gentlemen, I have the honor to report for the previous month that contract No. 24 hae been completed, shingling footpath on Main South Road from Ewen Bead to Cass Street, and one man has been employed 16 days spreading shingle end cleaning out water tables. There is not any particular work requires doing at preaent with the exception of breaking atones on Main South Road, near the brewery, and filling in ruts on Ewen Boad, near Whitehead’s brickyard, and, of course, some of the water tables will require attending to before the end of the month. Tbe balance in bank last Board day was £258 18b 7d, and after paying last month’s accounts, amounting to £35 10s 101, and moneys paid in received last month amounting to £lO 13s 41, foftves & bilftnoo this diy of £231 Hi Id, —I have, etc., „ “Giorob Dtson.” The overseer was instructed to get the work suggested done, and also to effect sundry repairs in tha Main street near the Oddfellows’ Hall. ACCOUNTS.
Accounts amounting to £22 16s 101 we re passed for payment. The meeting then terminated.
