THE CLOSE OF THE SESSION.
( Wellington Evening Press , Aug. 28,1888 ) His Excellency the Governor will prorogue Parliament probably on Thursday next, when one of. the longest and moat eventful sessions in the history of thia colony will be brought to a close. There were over 140 Bills before the House. Among these was the Land Bill introduced for the purpose of regulating the sale and settlement of Government lands The Electoral Bill occupied the attention of the House for a length of time, and 4 Native Bills, in course of discussion, engrossed public attention. A higher Tariff Bill was also introduced and passed with a view of enhancing the revenue of the country. Unfortunately this measure also enforces a higher tariff on proprietary medicines, which is a circumstance to be regretted. It is undeniable that the science of medicine has not kept progress with the onward march of civilisation. Of late, however, great disco series have been made, among which. Warner’s Safe Remedies take a leading rank. We have on frequent occasions published the moat powerful testimonials bearing as to the high efficacy of these specifics, and it is therefore a matter of regret that these medicines are included in the new tariff, Messrs H. H, Warner and Go., however, with their characteristic liberality, at once decided to bear personally all additional duty, recently enforced, and the public will therefore be . able to purchase Warner’s Safe Remedies, embracing Warner’s Safe Rheumatic Cure, Warner’s Safe Asthma Cure, Warner’s Safe Nervine, Warner’s Safe Diabetes Cure, and Warner’s Safe Pills, at former prices. The high efficacy ot these preparations is borne out by a vast number of testimonials, which, for distinction and strength, speak quite beyond anything hitherto submitted in matters affecting public health. To convince, let us quote —• Mr R. H. J. Beeves, M.11.R., the popular member for Inanffahua, who writes under date August 1;—“I can., certify to the great benefit derived, from the use of ‘Warner’s S-ifa Cure’ when sufficing from serious kidney disorganisation and liver’complaint. I have likewise recommended it 16 many friends, who. all materially benefit by its use.” . Mr. Joseph Geimmond, the worthy member for Hokitika, writes, under date Aug. 20;—“I may state (hat I have used .* Warner’s Safe Otue' with very ( beneficial results, also that on the digginn on the West Coast I have heard of many wonderful cures effected, that proved to me:that it Is a very valuable medicine. I have personally used it for liver and kidney complaint some 12 months ago; and have ever since been in good health.” Major Hamlin, Chairman of Committees, states under date of August 25 i “ Upon a recant occasion when suffering from ill-health caused by torpidity and disorder of the liver, I used ‘ Warner’s Safe Cure ’ and ‘ Warner’s Safe Pills,’ and I must say with great and decided benefit,” Testimonials coming from such discriminating sources must carry conviction to everybody’s mind.
