IRISH AFFAIRS.
London, September 18.
A medical certificate has been published which states that Mr John Dillon is in a very serious condition, and that he may possib’y live for a few weeks only. The Government have offered to release him on condition that he shall abstain from taking part m public agitations. To this proposal Mr Dillon has refused to agree, and it is now stated that owing to his critical state of health ho will be released unconditionally.
September 19. Mr Dillon maintains a defiant altitude towards the Government.
Rome, September 19.
Monsignor Persico, the Papal Delegate to Ireland some time ago, has furnished bis complete report to His Holiness the Pope. After referring generally to matters prior to the Papa' Decree, Monsignor Persico stales that the Irish Bishops are persistently endeavoring to pacify Ireland, and that the national agitation has lost much of its intensity.
