CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE.

The Corn Exchange reports for the week ending Friday evening, the 14th inst.: —

The continued upward tendency of London quotations for wheat, although slight, has been just sufficient to encourage a little speculation, consequently prices are a shade firmer, without, however, warranting any material advance in quotations. Good sound lines of prime tuscan can be freely quitted at the top rates of last week. Quotations are as follow: — Wheat Prime tuscan, 3s 6d; hunters and pearl, 3s 4d to 3s sd, pearl being more favored; chicken wheat, whole, a fair demand at 2s 4d to 2s 6d; broken lots slightly better at 2s to 2s 2d.

Oats Last week's quotations are fully maintained, and good lines are readily placed at 2s Id to 2a 2d for prime milling; good seed from Is lOd to 2s Id; inferior lots about la 6d. Barley —A few enquiries for good malting to ship. Coastwise have been fairly met at satisfactory prices. Prime malting, 4s to 4s 4d; medium, 3s 7d ; inferior lots, not inquired for, 2s 9d to 3s ; for seed as much as 4s 6d can be got for choice samples. Grass Seed—The demand for spring bo wing is somewhat slackening, and last week's prices are barely maintained, viz., ryegrass, machine dressed, 2s 9d to 3s; cocksfoot, 3d to 3|d; Italian rye, 2d to per lb. Potatoes—A slight improvement is noticeable in values, with a moderate demand for shipment at 50s to 52s 6d at country stations. Dairy Produce Quotations nominally remain at last week's rates, with limited enquiry. The above prices are those paid to farmers for delivery, f.0.b., sacks extra.
