SPOTTING.— The Point to Point Steeplechase under the auspices of the South Canterbury and Waimate County Harriars took place on Thursday last orer a four<mile ceurae ito the north of the Waßhdyke. There was a large attendance. Seven heavy weights and the Banae number of light weights were nominated. There was a splendid run. OE ths light weights, Mr 0. K. Moredith Kayo's Stookman (Mr E. 'Orammond) proyed the winner, Mr Thierenß' Guy (owner) being the firet of the heavy weights. Mr E. H, Lane's Riccarton fell while negotiating a gorae fence, and its back was broken. The rider w*e unhurt.
