London, August 16. A desperate resistance was offered to the evictions at New Ross, Wexford. The tenants erecel earthworks and dug trenches round their bouses, and offered ivory resistance to the authorities. The emergency men, who were assisted by the police with fixed bayonets, were repeatedly repulsed. Eventually the houses took fire, and the defenders were compelled to withdraw. Twelve arrcais were made.
