London, August 11. Parliament adjourns on Monday till November 6th. Ihe Imperial Defence Bill has passed through the House of Commons, In the House of Lords, in speaking on : the second reading of tho O mmission Bill, the Marquis of Salisbury said the only object the Gi/v.-rnraent bad in appointing the Commission was to elicit the truth as to the charges madp. Lord Herschel and Lord Granville opposed the Bill, and Lord Carnarvon and Lord Derby supported it. A Treasury minute.advises that the system of perpetual pensions and sinecure* should be abolished, and those existing commuted. The final report of the Education Commission has been issued.; The majority recommend the extension of religious voluntary teaching, while the minority, including Dr Dae, generally support tho Australian system. The Commission Bill and Local Government Bill have passed their final stages in the House of Lords.
