Mr Story said that it had bean suggested to him that the interests of the ratepayers would be served by the amalgamation of the Temukt and Arowbenua Town Boards into n borough. For his own part he thought it desirable. Expenses would be saved, and governmert centralised. Mr Edgeler dissented, and thought the suggestion both impracticable and unwise. The Chairman said that the matter bad also been mooted to him. He did not see any occasion to go to the Temuka Board as a supplicant, but if it was to the interest of the ratepayers at large he would like to see the matter fully discussed. Mr Edgeler thought it was a question for the people and not for the Boards. Mr Story was of opinion that the Boards could make the alteration if desirable. s j Mr Proudlock could not see the advantages to be gained by either Board. Practically there would bo no saving, and he questioned if fair representation could be obtained. Mr Story was prepared to" move that the members of the Board discuss the matter with the members of the Tomuka 'own Board. Mr Proudlock would move as an amendment that no action whatever be taken. Mr Edgeler would Hecond the amendment '. Pome further discussion enmed, but'eventually the matter was allowed to drop.
