Velvin the Temuk'i ones. Tin game was well fought, and Timaru got the best of it,, winning by three tries to nil. One try was .gnt, in the first spell and two in the second. Mr H. T. Clinch acted as umpire for Temuka and Mr George for Timaru. MrJ.L. Flint acted as referee. After th« gam-) the players adjourned to the Club Hote', where a very pleasaot evening was spent, various toasts being honored ] and some good songs sung. '
W A I II I. A practice,,match of the Waihi Club was played' at Winchester on Saturday afterDoon last between ..teams, chosen by /the captain, ;Mr T. Hart, and ?ice-captain, Mr J. A. ’Fitzgerald, respectively. An excellent practice was obtained, about 30 players turningiup. / The game resulted in a win for the captain’s side. NATIVE TEAM Y. HAWKES BAY
Napier, June 24 .; ' the football match on Saturday between Warbrick’s native team and fifteen of Htwkes Bay was witnessed by about 1000 persons. The game was very hard, .and fust throughout, and in favor of the native team in both spells. They; scored five points to nil. The visitors were much heavier all round than the local players, who, with one or two exceptions, were all light, although speedy. The native team did first-rate work. ENGLAND V. MELBOURNE. Melbourne, June 23. The English football team played a. match against South Melbourne this, after-, noon, and were defeated by seven goals to three.'' The Dunedin? Rugby Union ask the English Uuion should they find matters necessitating enquiry to overlook anything in the action, of *he English team which does not break the rules of the English Union.
