A MATRIMONIAL AGENT’S COMMISSION.
An interesting case, arising out of a contract alleged to have been entered into by a patron of a matrimonial agent of this city, bids fair to develop in the Courts at an early date. The facts as at present divulged appear to be these:—Sometime since a maiden, matrimonially inclined, deposited a sum of £1 Is with a certain matrimonial agent inbusinessin Wellington, the agreement being that the latter should secure for the lady au introduction to various male clients who might be considered eligible, with a view to matrimony. In the event of marriage resulting, the fair client promised the match-making medium a farther sum of £8 19s, making in all £5. In due course the gentleman was found and an introduction accomplished. It was apparently a case of “love at first sight,’’ and the parties were therefore “made one.” But after it was all over, the fair client of the agent of Hymen having had the cup of happiness “ filled to the brim,” in her fulness of heart apparently quite forgot her original agreement with the agent, who now purposes trying his claim before a Court of law, —Wellington Post.
