GERALDINE ROAD BOARD.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Surely the ratepayers ief Geraldine are not aware what a rana avis they have in their Overseer. Instead of lowering his Balarjr they should increase it. His oratorical powers on the day of the annual meeting prove him to be uo ordinary .man, as he said it was through him that the Levels Road Board are indebted for the only man in Canterbury fitted for the billet. Truly the Overseer of the Geraldine Road Board has a wonderful opinion of himself. Ferhupa he works on the principle of the old saying—" Yon scratch me and I will scratch you."— I am, etc., A Ratwayir. [The Overseer did not say-"the only man* in Canterbury fit for the billet." He said" the only man ia South Canterbury he could heaitily recommend," which makes all tbe difference.—Thjs Ewiok.]
