THE ROXBURGH SHOOTING CASE.
Dchbdik, April 23. O’Neill, the riotim of the Roxburgh shooting case, died on Friday night. Oharlesworth has been committed for trial for murder. The Tuapaka Times gave the following account of the affair at the time of its occurrence " When the two men were (tending about Obarlesworth’s premises after they had been drinking together at one or two hotels/ Oharlesworth’s daughter appeared at the door, when O’Neill made some indecent remark about her. This appeared to annoy her father, and O’Neill haring made some further observations of a similar nature, Oharlesworth lifted a loaded gun, which wan standing near by, ana referring to O’Neill’s remarks, deliberately raised the gun and shot him in the face. Oharlesworth’s son had beep out shooting rabbits, and had left the gun loaded with a charge of light shot, and this entered O’Neill's head near the mouth, lodging in grout part in ,hie jaw and neck. On being shot, O’Neill ran out into the road and fell down, the blood flowing from the wound in large quantities. Palling himself together, he ran dawn the road to the residence of Dr. Dunn, who did his best for the sufferer.”
