GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of this Board was held on Tuesday evening last. Present— Messrs J. Mundell (Chairman), W. S. Mastic, E. Taylor, W. Berry, and J. A. Quin. minutes. The minutes of the previous meeting were read a»d confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Outward correspondence was read and approved of. Inward was read and dealt with as follows From the Department of Justice, Wellington, in reply to the Board’s letter protesting against the amalgamation of the Eaukapuka and Geraldine Licensing Benches as proposed by the Raukapnka Committee. The letter stated that section S of the Licensing Act 1882, prohibited the amalgamation of town districts with ridings or road districts. It was not therefore proposed to make any alteration in existing arrangements. . . From Dr Foster, Christchurch, advising the Board of a number of leases he had forwarded. From Messrs White and Co. also relating to the Board’s lessei.—The Chairman and Mr Taylor were authorised to sign leases on behalf of the Board, the Clerk to witness the same. From Messrs E. Johns and T. Moore asking for a lamp to be placed on Macdonald Street. Ordered to stand over for the present. • From Mr J. Fiefield staticg that he had leased, section No. 237 from the Board two years ago, but as no leaae had been forthcoming he desired the Board to lake * the seetion off his hands.—The Cleik stated that; the lease had been prepared by Messrs White and Co., and he was inBiructed to advise Mr fiefield to that •Seat.

power them.—it was decided to grant permission to the Club to use the Domain, the Board retaining the right to revoke such permission when they desired to do so. It was also decided to ask the Club to give a donation towards keeping the grounds and fences in repair.

TENDERS. It was decided to call for tenders for leasing the Domain for a term of seven years, either in two parts or as a whole. Tenders to be in in a fortnight. The meeting then terminated.
