GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of this Board was held on Tuesday evening last. Present— Messrs J. Mundell (Chairman), W. S. Mastic, E. Taylor, W. Berry, and J. A. Quin. minutes. The minutes of the previous meeting were read a»d confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Outward correspondence was read and approved of. Inward was read and dealt with as follows From the Department of Justice, Wellington, in reply to the Board’s letter protesting against the amalgamation of the Eaukapuka and Geraldine Licensing Benches as proposed by the Raukapnka Committee. The letter stated that section S of the Licensing Act 1882, prohibited the amalgamation of town districts with ridings or road districts. It was not therefore proposed to make any alteration in existing arrangements. . . From Dr Foster, Christchurch, advising the Board of a number of leases he had forwarded. From Messrs White and Co. also relating to the Board’s lessei.—The Chairman and Mr Taylor were authorised to sign leases on behalf of the Board, the Clerk to witness the same. From Messrs E. Johns and T. Moore asking for a lamp to be placed on Macdonald Street. Ordered to stand over for the present. • From Mr J. Fiefield staticg that he had leased, section No. 237 from the Board two years ago, but as no leaae had been forthcoming he desired the Board to lake * the seetion off his hands.—The Cleik stated that; the lease had been prepared by Messrs White and Co., and he was inBiructed to advise Mr fiefield to that •Seat.

“Overseer.” Members spoke of the slow manner in which the dog fees were coming in. It was decided that the constable in chatge be appointed the Board’s officer to sue for the dog fees and to carry out other
matters connected with ti e by-laws. TENDERS. Tenders for forming and grubbng Shaw. Peel, and Baiker Streets ime re*d, and that of Mr J. Beckley, at £IOSB, was accepted. bents. It was decided to take legal proceedings to recover all rents net paid within four-

Jn accordance with notice given Mr Quin moved —“That a rats of 6d in the £ be struck upon all rateable property iu -the tewn district." After a short conversational discussion Mr ■ Vlaslin seconded the proposition, which was carried. ACCOUNTS.
Accounts amounting to £l9 16a were [ passed for payment, and tb© Board resolved itself into a LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH. The Inspector’s report was read, and detlt with one or two small matters. Be the nnissnce existing on Mr D. Shaw's property, the Clerk stated that the offensive matter had now been run on to High Street by means of a culvert. It was decided that the Board’s culvert
into High Street should be taken up. * DOMAIN* BOARD. A meeting of the Domain Board was then held. MINDIES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, COEBESPONDENCE, A letter was read from Mr J, J. Hisksns, Secretary of the Geraldine Football Club,
asking for peimission to use the D nuain to play football in,—Some of the members were of opinion that a small charge should b« made to clubs using the ground. Other members were of opinion that no charge could be legally made. Their powers did not allow them to make a charge. Alter looking up the Ad it y/.e found that the Board had no i-ower t( make a charge. To make sue. a charge they would nped to puss a by-law to em_
power them.—it was decided to grant permission to the Club to use the Domain, the Board retaining the right to revoke such permission when they desired to do so. It was also decided to ask the Club to give a donation towards keeping the grounds and fences in repair.
TENDERS. It was decided to call for tenders for leasing the Domain for a term of seven years, either in two parts or as a whole. Tenders to be in in a fortnight. The meeting then terminated.
