M. PASTEUR’S SCHEME.
Adelaide, March 29
M. Levi, M. Pasteur’s nephew, with M., Germont, a French doctor, and Dr Hinds, an English doctor, are passengers by the Cuzco. They corns to Australia to conduct experiments in connection with M. Pasteur’s exterminator. M. Levi, in reply to an interviewer, stated emphatically that the possibility of any ill effects of the system had been disproved by M. Pasteur. The disease with which it was proposed to infect the rabbits is not allied to cholera, and M. Levi stated that persons bad been in fecting poultry without experiencing the slightest inconvenience or discomfort. He also stated that the infected rabbits die painlessly within twenty-four hours. In reply to further questions M. Levi said be was not aware what effect the disease wonld have upon the skins. London, March 28.
Sir Dillon Bell has had an interview with M. Pasteur with reference to the latter’s scheme for exterminating rabbits. Sir Dillon appears satisfied that the introduction of microbes is feasible, and could be used with safely. The full nature of the interview bsa not been disclosed, but it is understood that M. Pasteur revealed the whole process of bis scheme to the New Zealand representative.
