RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Temuka—Wednesday, March 21, 1888, [Before Captain Wray, R.M.] ILLBOBD ILLEGAL POSSESSION.
On the case against John Woodhead—who is charged with being in unlawful possession of a coat and who was com* mitted for 7 days last week for contempt of, Court —being called, the Resident Magistrate said lie had received a medical certificate to tin effect that Woodhead was unable to appear, and he remanded the case for a w*ek. CITIL CASES. J. Marshall v. John Hamilton—Claim £1 14i 9J for breid delivered.—There was no appearance of defendant, and judg* mint was given for p’aiutiff with cos's. P. Coira r. H. Davis—Claim £2 13s 6d for cash lent.—Judgment for plaintiff by default with costs.
Q. H. Mogridgo v. Robt, Williamson — Claim £5 12s 7d for goods supplied,— There was no appearance of defendant.— The plaintiff depose I that he had received £l, and judgment was given for £4 lll 7d and costs. G. McS. Qsntlemun v. Francis Frank*. - -Mr White appeared for plaintiff, and Mr Aspinall for defendant.—The claim was for some items disputed in a previous case, when judgment was given for the amount paid into Court,—His Worship mid he would rather the caso was heard before the Justices who had heard the previous one, as they were in possession of the facts, while ho knew nothing about them. After argument by counsel, His Worship said be would adjourn the case for a week, and the Clerk would notify the Justice* concerned. The case of G. McS. Gentleman v. Mrs Frank* was similarly d»alt with.
BBHEABINO. Mr Aspinall app'iod for a rehearing in the case of G. McS. Gentlemuu v. H. Friedlander, which .went by default last week. Mr White, for Mr Qentlemun, opposed, and urged that the application was not in order. Hi* Worship held with Mr White, and the application was refused. The Court then rose.
