ANOTHER COMPAINT.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— ln a recent issue of your paper I I read a latter referring to the Temuka nightman, suggesting that the members of the Town Board should take turn about in that ospacity. Now I consider that too severe on gentlemen who give (heir services free, but I would suggest to them that they take a walk before breakfast on the morning following the scavenger doing his rounds si far as the place where the nightsoil is deposited. They will get a perfume which they will not soon forget, and it will be a great chance if any breskfast is required. It i«. ridiculous the way in which it is buritd. There are pits, not one chain from the centre of the road, sometimes not covered before midday. Still if any poor person keeps a pig to eat the scraps from his house and garden he is immediately ordered to do away with it, or next thing be gets tf blitttr. I believe the Board has an inspector of Nuisances, but no pay is attached. It’s a mistake (no pay no work). It is a very various thing the way things are managed. If an epidemic should break out there is ao knowing where it will end. Trusting that by my remarks I have hurt ne ons’s feelings, skill hoping that members will take the hint, 1 am, etc.,

Ratepayer. Temuka, March 19th, 1888.
