In the House of Lords the Earl of Delaware called attention ta the depression in trade, and Lord Salisbury in reply said that, admitting the fallacies of freetrade, Government was unable to adopt Protection. The motion by Lord Charles Beresford, «• That the allocation of authority in the Admiralty requires reform," was negative!. In the House of Commons the second reading of Mr Bradlaugh's Oath Bill was carried by a majority of one hundred. The Government did not oppose the motion for the second reading.
