LICENSING COMMITTEES.

GERALDINE. The first meeting of this newly-elected Committee was held in the Courthouse, Geraldine, at noon on Thursday hit. Present— Mesin M. Connolly, J. W. Pye, W. Coffman, W. S- Mailin, and N. Dunlop. Hr W. S. Mailin was elected Chairman. Mr T. Markham was reqaeited to erect a fence between the Crown Hotel and the ■tables adjoining. The meeting then terminated.

TKMDKA. The first meeting of the newly-elected Licensing Committee for the Temnka diitriot took place yeeterday in the Courthouse. All the members, namely, Messrs J. Talbot, J. Meyer, A s Grant, J. Blyth, aid A. W. Enior were present. On the motion of Mr Blyth, seconded by Mr Grant, Mr J. Talbot was re-elected Chairman. Mr Talbot briefly thanked the Committee for the honor conferred upon him. Constable Morton reported that Mr Aiigland (of the Star Hotel, Temuks), Mrs B. Heap (Foyar Hotel), Mr P. Ooira (Wallingford), and Mr B. J. W. Chamberlain (Temnka) bad complied with the order of the Committee re providing fire escapee for their hotels. The Crown Hotel, Temnka, and the Wolseley Hotel, Winchester, were exempted, owing to their conitruotion and the materiel of which they were built. Mr T. Farrell, of the Winchester Hotel, had not erected the fire escape ordered by the Committee. He had them on hand, but wanted a "guarantee" from the Committee, at they might be the means of admitting bad characters into the house after he bad retired for the night. In reply to the Chairman Constable Morton said he had no oomplainta to make. All the hotels had been well conducted. After considering the matter the Clerk (Mr Willi) wai instructed to inform' Mr Farrell that if he did not comply with the order of the Committee, ard have the fire escapes erected at once it might endanger the granting of his license at the annual meeting. This being all the husinesi the meeting terminated.
