CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS.

At the Addington Yards on Wednesday there was a good attendance of buyers and prices slightly improved. Fat Cattle—The demand was good and a rise of about 10s per head took place. Steers sold at from £5 to £7 2s 6d per head; heifers and fat cows at from £3 15s to £6 ss, being at from 15s to 19s per 1001 b, according as the quality varied.—Messrs Matson and Co. sold for a South Canterbury client, heifers to £4 15s. Dairy Cattle—Cows coming into immediate profit, from £3 10s to £3 15s; inferior, from £S to £4. Fat Sheep—A full market, quality varied. Values throughout the sale about on a par with last week’s rates. Crossbred wethers from 8s 6d to 10s 6d; light weights, 6s 9d to 7s 9d; crossbred ewes from 5s 6d to as high as 9s 6d; merino wethers, from 5s to 7s, being at from l|d to Ifd per lb, according to quality. Fat Lambs A large number yarded. The best sorts sold at from 6s 9d to 7s 6d, in one case as high as 8s 6d; other sorts, 4s 6d to 5s 6d. Pigs—A very small number were offered, and late prices were obtained.

AUSTRALIAN MARKETS.

Brisbane, March 7

There is complete stagnation in the flour trade, and there is no speculation, notwithstanding the low prices which prevail. Oats and maize are dull, and the timber trade is practically a dead letter.

ENGLISH MARKETS. Loudon, March 7. Chilian copper is £BO ss. Scotch pig iron is 43s 9d. Frozen meat is firm at last quota* tions. Other markets are generally steady at last quotations.
