SCOTSBURN SCHOOL.
A Committee meeting was held on Saturday evening, the 18th. Present Messrs R. Irvine (Chairman), J, Pithie, W. Johnston, and Newman. MINUTES. The minutes of ths previous meeting were read and confirmed. ELECTION OP BOARD MEMBERS. The Chairman read a letter from the Secretary of th'e Board re election of members, and the Committee recorded their vote in favor of Messrs Talbot, |Fearpoint, and Melville Gray, MASTER’S REPORT. The master’s report was read. It showed the number on the roll to be; Boys, 26; girls, 26; total, 52, The strict average for the month was 39. Cash received re sale of books during the past quarter was £1 3s 3d, and the outstanding accounts amounted to £9 10s. INSPECTOR'S REPORT. The Inspector’s report was considered, and, taking into account the irregular attendance of many of the pupils daring the past year, was deemed highly satisfactory. The Inspector remarked that the school had passed a very fair examination,, the pupils being quiet and orderly, and that the preparatory pupils received instruetion’in reading, writing, spelling, and counting—their, work being very creditable. The following are the results Standard YI.: Presented 3, passed 3. Standard Y.; Presented 2, passed 1, absent 1; Standard IY.: Presented 8, passed 4, failed 3, excepted 1. Standard 111. ; Presented 6, passed 5, failed 1. Standard II.: Presented 8, passed 8. Standard I.: Presented 8, passed 8. Preparatory: Presented 11, absent 1. The percentages are;—* Passes in Standards, 88; failures, 12 j repetition, 77.5; sewing, 75; drawing, 47.5; geography, 79; history, 3 upper standards, 64; knowledge of reading matter, 60.
