BURNING OF A VESSEL.

The American ship J, T, Berry, bound from Philadelphia to Japan, took fire at sea on the 9-h inst," The fire spread over the yessel so rapidly that the crew had' barely time to escape, which they •di J in two boats. One of the boats, containing the captain, the mate, and twelve of the crew, was picked op by a passing! vessel.’ Last night she was towed into the heads at lambucca> river, 841 miles north of here. The occupants «f the boat 1 suffered great hardships and encountered very rough weather before being picked op. The second boat, which had eleven men on board, is missing, bat it is thought possible they would make, for New Zealand. .
The pilot steamer has been despatched to search for the missing boat belonging to the ship J. F, Berry.
