ACCIDENTS AND SUDDEN DEATHS.
At Waimataitai, near Timaru, on Tueaday morning, a bull attempted to rush a lad named Blackraore, who waft driving some cattle out of a paddock. The boy was on horseback, and his horse was badly hurt.—Mr Gilchrist, a butcher, of Tiraaru, was hurt by a horse on Thursday last. He was taking the bridle of a horse whea the animal reared and struck him ■with its fore feet on the arm and behind the ear. He was rescued hy some one near, and is now almost recovered.—A lad named Quick was run over by an express io Timaru on Saturday. He was hanging on behind a trap and fell off, and one of the wheels of an express, which was following close behind, passed over his chest. The boy received dangerous injuries.
Auckland, Dec. 27. A former named William Koutley wa» found dead i'd hip stable at Pukekohe at 3 p.m. yesterday. A woman named Mary Burke was drowned on Saturday night at Woodville by falling into the creek. The woman, with a man named Hamere, were eeen by a neighbor pulling; up stream. He states that they were drunk. The body was recovered. The yacht Truant with six men set sail for a ten day*' cruise on Boxing-Day, and was capsized in Rangitoto Channel by a squall. Four of the men were drowned, namely, Mr Danby (artist), Mr Hammond (son of Mr Hammond, architect), Mr ijinkliiitt (artist), and Mr Armstrong (son of C«ptain Armstrong). The remaining two were saved by swimming two miles. The bodies of those who were drowned have not yet been recovered. The yacht was the property of Hammond. New Plymouth, Deo. 27. A man named Jeremiah Hunter was killed at Stratford on Saturday. He was bushfaling, and a tree struck him in the groin. Wellington, Dec. 27. A guard named Michuel Bennett, employed on the Government railway, broke his leg yesterday in stepping from the Upper Hutt pUtform on to the railway line. George Adams, a member of the Hansard staff, met. with a serious accident yesterday afternoon. While he was endeuvoriog to extinguish a gorse fire at Wellington Terrace be fell over the bank. It is feared that he has received concussion of the spinal cord, and that paralysis may stt in.

E. Rawlings, road ovsrseer on the Cbristcourch road, was injured whilßt clearing array a landslipneariiocky Point. Both his lega were broken and Via was injured internally. Be died whilst being carried to Kumara Hospital. OamartJ; D:c. 27.
A single man named John Pringle, oged 26, dud suddenly at Otepopo on Sunday night.
A man named Johnston, in the employ of Mr Seid, of Elderslie, was found lying under a dray which he had been driving. His back was broken, the dray having gone over him. He died this morning in the Hospital. INVERCA.KCULL, Dec. 27. A boy 8 years old, son of Mr T. Crawley, ex-Mayor of South Invercargill, wan choked by an Indiarubber toy known as a squeaker. It slipped over the windpipe, and the small baloon being inflated by the returning breath, filled up the windpipe und choked the lad.
