PRESENTATION.
' ■- #' : A very largely attended meeting or th a inhabitants of Woodbury was held in the schoolroom on Saturday evening , last for the purpose of presenting a ■ substantial testimonial to Mrs Turton. The Eev. James Preston presided. The proceedings were opened by Mr Preston expressing the pleasure it gave him to be present, and he referred to the hearty good feeling which had prompted the gift. Mr George Hammond, Churchwarden, read the following address:—"Mm Turton. —Madam, The occasion of our assembling here this evening is to express in a slight way our sense ol gratitude to you, for the efficient manner in which you have conducted the Church Choir for several years, and also for your work in the Sunday School. When it became known that ifc was intended to recognise your kindness and interest in these things in some substantial way the Committee found a unanimous feeling prevailing in the district that was most favorable to their wishes,. The. result is, we are enabled to submit for your acceptance this 'token of the high regard with which your services arey held, and a general expression of good-' will to yourself personally. I beg to add on behalf of all present a hearty wish both to Mr Turton and yourself for a ' Joyful Christmas and a Happy New Tear.'" Messrs Thatcher and Greaves also spoke in eulogistic terms of Mrs Turton's services. The Rev. J. Preston then presented Mrs Turton with a very handsome marble clock. Mrs Turton returned thanks to all present in a few well-chosen words, and expressed the great pleasure Jk. gave her to receive such a handooJP s ifb ' ' :
