CRICKET.

Thursday last proved an exceptionally fine day, and advantage was taken of the half-holiday in Geraldine to play a friendly game of cricket with a team selected from the C. Battery of Artillery, Timaru. The visiting team drove out to Geraldine in a four-in-hand, tooled by Mr Lindsay. The visitors were entertained at luncheon at the bazaar. The match took place in the park, and was a most enjoyable one. 'ihe visitors were captained by Mr Hughes, and the home team by Major Moore. The latter went to the wickets first, and knocked up a score of 119 before being disposed of. The visitors were theu got rid of for 72, and the home team following on had put together an additional 28 before the stumps were drawn at 6.30 p.m. Messrs J. Henderson and J. J.
