A QUERY.

TO THB EDITOR. Sir, —Can you inform a few disappointed townsmen and country people how it happens that while tickets were recently issued from Christchurch for the Timaru Agricultural Show at 5s and 7« 6d return, the people of this district were to-day charged 16s Id and 24-8 2d for the same distance on visiting the Christchurch Show. Had fares been equal a large number would have availed themselves of a cheap trip to the premier show of the colony.—l am, etc , Fairplay. Temuka, November 11th, 1887. [We presume the Eailway authorities are of opinion that the people of this district can afford t ) pay better than the Christchurch people. The Editor].
