TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held last night. Present—Messrs Gray (Chairman), Ooira, Mason, and Blyth. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read Prom the Road Board, enclosing a resolution passed at its last meeting in reference to the separation of the Waimate County from the South Canterbury Charitable Aid District.—On the motion of Mr Mason, seconded by Mr Blyth it was resolved —“That this Board fully endorse the resolutions passed by the Temuka Road Board, as the division asked for by the Waimate County is most unjust to other parts of the district.” From Mr James Winning, asking his name to be placed on the rateroll in place of Mr J. Siegect’s.— Granted. MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE. The Chairman said he bad received a telegram from the Member for the district, asking to be allowed to represent the Board at the Municipal Conference. After consulting with others he had forwarded the necessary authority, together with their views as regards County roads. SEWAGE. The Chairman said he thought it was time they took steps as regards adopting a system of sewage- He thought i* might be as well to set aside a sum annually for that purpose. Mr Blyth did not think it would be of any use to do that. The small sum they could set aside would not avail. If they went in for sewage the best thing they could do would be to borrow the money. After the matter had been talked over, it was found that a rate of in the £ would provide sufficient funds to pay interest and sinking fund for a loan of £2OOO, but no action was taken. KERBING. It was ascertained that there was lying to the ci edit of the Board £l9O, and it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Blyth, to lay down concrete kerbing from Darroch’s corner to the boundary at Cass street. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £35 13s 7d were passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned.
