Mr Moss Jonas reports as follows ;

Washdyke Yards.—There was a fair entry of stock at these yards on Thursday, the 20lh. The sheep readily found buyers at prices as under, but store cattle were notin demand. He sold 55 hoggets at 6s 41, 188 at 6s lOd, 66 ewes and wethers at 10s, 80 fat crossbreds at 11s 9,1, 92 at 12s 31, and 100 at 13s Sd, 1 fat cow £5 17s 6d, and 2 forward steers at £3, 7 pigs at 6s, 10 at 7s, 7 at 11s, and 7 at 12s 6d, I

Newmarket Yards.—His opening sale in these yards at Saltwater Creek on Monday last was highly successful, and farmers have so appreciated the convenience afforded that spontaneous offers of support and expressions of good wishes from all parts of the district from Timsru »nd Makikihi, have reached him. Cattle —96 head were entered, and as could be teen at a glance, the bulk were of a description for which few buyers were in the market, viz., store steers and heifers, and poor dry cows. In all, 24 head of cows in milk and springers, came under the hummer, first half the number finding nrw owners. Fat cattle were noticeably absent—a strange thing in so good a grazing country—only three head being brought forward. Yearlings and calves made up the tally. He sold 10 steers and heifers at up to £3 10r each, 3 fat at £6 ss, 5 springers at up to £5 each, milkers at £1 sr, £3 17a 6d, 2 «t £4 ss, 1 at £4 7s 6d, £4 15s and £5; stores at £l, £3, £3 17s 6d ; yearliogs 21s, calves Bs. Sheep —A good marketable lot were brought forward, as evidenced by the fact that but two lots were turned out unsold—the owners’ and buyers’ estimate of values not being in accord. He sold 60 fat merinos at 7s lid, 17 hoggets at 7s 61, 120 at 7s lid, 62 at B*, 100 fat crossbreds at 12a 9d, 99 at 13s 6d ; and 114 wethers at 14s 6d, lambs 7s 6d, Pigs—7 at 10s, 6at 14s, sat 15s, 4at 16a, and 2at 20s. A brisk demand and all sold.

Sheeps^'ns—At his Inst fortnightly sale on the I9lh he submitted nearly 2000 skins, mostly heavy crossbreds, 60 bides and calfskins, and a large lot of fat. The sale waa well attended, and although not quite so brisk as some that have taken place, showed a recovery on the late fall, ns predicted by him in his last report. He sold merinos at Is 61 to 4s 61, crossbreds Is 9J to 5s 7d, 205 mixed skins at B|d per lb, equal to about 3s 51, and 200 at 6d per lb, equal to 3s 9d each. Hides 2£d, 3d and 3£d, according to weight and condition ; fat from 5s to 8s per cwt. Horses—He has sold good draughts up to £23 a piece. There is but a weak demand for any descriptions and sales are difficult to effect. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, Oct. 28, The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company held their usual weekly wool sale yesterday, when 2800 bales were submitted. There was a full attendance of buyers, and the competition was more spirited than last week, but there was no material change in prices. Greasy realised 10£d per lb. Scoured and washed fleeces wore poorly represented, Btdnet, Oct. 28. New Zealand wheat is steady at 3s 3d to 8s 6d per bushel. r New Zealand oats are firm at Is 10J do 2s 2d per bushel. Maize is slightly easier at 3a 8d to 3s lOd per 56ib. Potatoes still come forward in large quantities. Prices are 5a lower than last' week, to-day’s quotations being 30s per ton, Adelaide, Oct. 28. Shipping wheal is firm at 3s 61 per bushel. Town flour is quoted at £9 per ton ; country brands, £8 sa. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Oct. 27. The Antwerp wool series open on the 7th November. The catalogue comprises 28,000 bales, including 2300 from Aostralia. Oct. 28. The total quantity of wheat afloat for the Dnited Kingdom is 1.550,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,700,000 quarters. New Zealand mutton is quoted a» 3|d to 4d per lb. Got. 30.
