London, Oct. 25. The Marquis of Hartington, addressing a public meeting at Nottingham yesterday, strongly condemned the language used by Mr Gladstone in the recent speeches in that city, which, be declared, would weaken the arm of the Government in their efforts to firmly uphold law and order. The proprietor ot the Wexford People has been sentenced to a month’s imprisonment for inciting the people to attend a League meeting. The Marquis of Hartington, speaking at Nottingham, said no modifying could make Mr Gladstone’s Irish proposals acceptable to Unionists. He complains of the despotism of Mr Gladstone, and considers his offers of the disestablishment of the Churches of Scotland and Wales is really bribery, Oct. 26. Mr Gladstone, speaking at Leeds, said that the outrages committed by the Government were a fearful temptation to the Irish people to retaliate.
