ENGLISH AND FOREIGN. London, Oct. 9, It is announced lhat Prince Bismarck and Signer Crispi, at their recent interview, were completely agreed upon the Saez Can el question, and that henceforth Germany, England, and Italy will adopt uniform resolutions regarding the Canal. The Ameer is sending his treasure for safety to Khonbad. The Economist states that criticism of colonial loans has had a beneficial effect. The loans floated this year amount to £8,000,000, as against £14,500,009 in 1886. The result of such reduction has been that stocks bate rapidly risen. M. de Lesseps reports that the Panama Caaaf will be navigable in three years, and that after that-object has been attained it will be widened and deepened. Signor Crispi bas assured his colleagues that by Italy joining the AustroGerman alliance the universal pence of Europe has been secured, Ayoob Khan has written to an Afghan chief reminding him of bis oath of allegiance, and promises that if he is made Ameer of Afghanistan he will reduce the tributes, fie also writes to the chief to take up arms on his behalf. A memorandum published by tho Committee of the Imperial Institute states that the total subscriptions received in aid of the Institute amount to upwards of four hundred thousand pounds, the assistance received from the various colonies and India being considered extremely satisfactory. It is the intention of the Committee to make application for a grant of a Koyal Charter for the Institute. The memorandum also states that the contract for tha construction of the foundations of the building has been concluded, The sculling match between Bubear and Courtenay was rowed on the Oswego Lake, Ontario, and resulted in a victory for the former by four lengths. Tenders for the Borough of Redf'rn (New South Waif#) loan of £50,000, bearing 4 per cent, interest, the minimum being fixed at 91, were opened today. The total amount offered was found to be £189,090. Tenderers at £93 lls receive 67 per cent, of the allotment, and tenderers above that receive in full, The Australian mails per the Orient Steamship Company’s s.s. His Excellency the Viceroy has forwarded a letter to the Nizam of Hyderabad, expressing the warmest thanks of the Imperial Government for the magnanimous and opportune offer of assistance. His Excellency adds that Her M»j"Sty is ex'remely grateful at the offer, and welcorms the proffered aid as a fresh proof of the friendship of the Nizam for the British Empire. Sofia, Oct. 10. The elections for the new Sobranje resulted in favor of the present Government, M. Stambonhff’s supporters having been returned by large rasjoritiea. Great enthusiasm prevails throughout the oi*v. Sydney, Oct. 11. Sailed, to-day—Wakatipu, for Wellington. His Honor Sir William Manning, one of the puisne Judges of tbis colony, has tendered his resignation to the Governor. Adelaide, Oct. 11. A serious difficulty has arisen between Mi's Seamen's Union and the Adelaide Shipping Company. It is very probable that the outcome of the affair will be a complete strike of the seamen, wharf hands, atokeis, and others engaged in the shipping trade.
