At. the wool sales to-day good scoured crossbreds were ruling one halfpenny lo one penny, and inferior and scoured crossbreds one peony to three halfpence, below the closing rates in June and duly series. Greasy, and inferior greasy crossbreds, are one halfpenny lower, but good heavy crossbreds ph»w an advance of one halfpenny to one penny. At the Western Fleece and Wool sales prices are unchanged, In the inquiry into the railway accident near Doncaster the jury returned a verdfcl of manslaughter against the driver and fireman of the train which ran into and smashed the' excursion train. Lord Randolph Churchill, in addressing a meeting, referred to the agricultural depression, and said that it was possible to relieve the farmers only increasing the Government allowance to local bodies.

The Marquis of Normanby sails for Sydney in the s.s. Orient. The Rev. Cameron Lees, who was appointed temporarily to the pastorship of the Scots, Church, Melbourne, has written a letter to the Scotsman, in which he states that he would not have lost much if he bad never seen Sydney and its beautiful harbor, and he is persuaded to the belief that (he future of Australasia lies with Victoria rather than with New South Wales. Bank of Australasia shares have fallen lOn.

It is officially announced that Dr McKenzie has again examined the Crown Prince’s throat, and has found that a gratifying improvement has taken place in its condition. The Prince has left for Italy where ha will remain for the winter. San Francisco, Sept. 24. The E.M.S. Alameda left here yesterday (Friday) afternoon for Auckland. Sept. 25. Ffteen hundred cases of scarlet fever are now being treated in the London Hospitals, which are filled to their fullest limits. The epidemic is increasing daily.
