Iho appeal of Mr Thomas Dakin, who was fined for contempt of Court in refusing to stop his workmen from making a noise to the annoyance of the Court, has been dismissed by the fall Court. Kelly, manager of Schalkrafl’s business, has been found guilty on a ehsrge of defrauding the Unstoms, and was sen- 1 tcnced to pay a fine of £IOOO. Julian Thomas, “ The Vagabond,” has commanced an action for libel against the Wesleyan Spectator, Damages are laid at £2600. Sept. 17. The barque Mary Blundell, 822 tons, which recently arrived from Hamburg, while unloading at the wharf near the gasworks, took fire at noon to-day, and is now (2 p.m.) still burning.
