Iho appeal of Mr Thomas Dakin, who was fined for contempt of Court in refusing to stop his workmen from making a noise to the annoyance of the Court, has been dismissed by the fall Court. Kelly, manager of Schalkrafl’s business, has been found guilty on a ehsrge of defrauding the Unstoms, and was sen- 1 tcnced to pay a fine of £IOOO. Julian Thomas, “ The Vagabond,” has commanced an action for libel against the Wesleyan Spectator, Damages are laid at £2600. Sept. 17. The barque Mary Blundell, 822 tons, which recently arrived from Hamburg, while unloading at the wharf near the gasworks, took fire at noon to-day, and is now (2 p.m.) still burning. Arrived—Orient steamship Lusitania, from London. Sept. 18. The fire in the barqoe Mary Blundell was extinguished last night, bat it is believed that lb* cargo, which iu valued at £16,000, ia entirely destroyed by tbs fire and water, Stdnet, Sept. 16.
