An Industrial Exhibition is now being held at Auckland. It has ro far been visited bj 8000 persons. Messrs Sander and Smith, who left Hamilton for Maungutnutirl, for the scene of the recent gold discovery, accompanied by Hall an ! Q’Neill (who made the find), for the purpose of further prospecting the country, returned to Hamilton on Friday with two bags of specimens. They are satisfied with the genuineness of the find. The stone is promising, and gold is plainly visible. Specimens will probably be brought on to Auckland, la order to be tested. The new find is considered of great importance, and promises to be a great success. The Mnitai was successfully floated at Greymouth on Friday, and is now alongside the wharf. At the Dunedin Police Court on Friday, Peter Williams was charged with forging a Bank of New Zealand note, and uttering the same. The evidence showed that the note had been photographed, and prisoner said, “ There is no use in going further, I am the guilty person, and I don’t want to put you to any further trouble." Accused was committed for trial. A charge against (he accused’s father of uttering a forged note naa dismissed.
