Paris, Sept. 8. The Journal des Debate, in its issue to-day, confirms the announcement recently made by the Le Temps that the settlement of the New Hebrides question may be expected shortly after the recess, but adds that M. Fleurens, Foreign Minister, makes the New Hebrides question dependent upon the neutralisation of the Suez Canal, which the journal states has neary been settled. Sept. 8. La Liberte has announced that, in anticipation of the withdrawal the French troops from the New Hebrides, the Government has asked the Governor of New Caledonia to furnish a report as to the position of t' e colonists towards the natives, and' the eventual measures necessary to protect them.
