Sir Saul Samuel, Agent-General for New South Wales, is forwarding to his Government at Sydney a proposal which has been submitted to him for the extermination of rabbits, The Secretary of State for the Colonies, in replying to a protest of the encroachment of the New Hebrides Company on the Presbyterian Mission in those islands, has stated that the matter is receiving the attention of the Foreign Secretary. AUSTRALIAN CABLE.

Sydney, Sept. 4. The Rev. George Brown and the Rev. Mr Fletcher, the remaining delegates of the Wesleyan Commission to Tonga, h»ve returned here by the s.s. Lubeck. They report that all was quiet at Tonga, and express a hope that some means will ba devised by which the two churches there will be united. They refuse to divulge the doings of the Commission, aa their report will be laid before the Weßleyan Conference on Wednesday next. The Lubeck brings news of the arrival of the German naval pquadron at Samoa, but its object has not been divulged. Adelaide, Sept. 2. The Messageries steamship Yarra arrived yesterday from Marseilles.
