The following is the Mast-r’s report “ I have the honor to submit the following report for three weeks in July “ Average number on roll—Boys, 196 ; girls, 176 ; total, 372, Strict average attendance—Boys, 127.6; girls, 115; total, 242.6. Working avenge attendance—Boys, 135.6 ; girls, 123.4 ; total, 259. Highest attendance—Boys, 147; girls, 138 ; total, 285. “ I shall be obliged if you order 1000 coptes of the accompanying form ; there is one class ns yet unsupplied. “ In consequence of the destruction by fire of the Winchester school, some of the pupils have been sent here. Last week I admitted three pupils, yesterday twentyone, and to-day one. There are classified as follows In Standard 111., 9 pupils ; Standard IT., 7 ; Standard Y., 3; Standard VI., 6. For those in Standards IV., Y,, and VI. our accommodation was sufficient, but to find desk or floor space for those in Standard 111. has overtaxed our resources. In that Standard we had already 55 pupils, and that number was, if anything, too great for the only classroom available. 1 could wish that the Education Board, or the Winchester School Committee (I know not by whose action our attendance has been increased), had found it convenient to send these Standard 111. pupils elsewhere. “ I require two easel pins.—l have, etc., “W. Betaes.” It was decided to order the forms asked for, and supply the easel pins. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £6 15s were passed tor payment. REPAIRS. During the time the accounts were under discussion, the Chairman explained what repairs *o the school had been attended to, and said he had made a thorough explanation of the state of the roof of the school, and got Mr Ogilvie to make an estimate of the cost of necessary repairs. This estimate was placed before the Committee. The B >ard having promised to contribute £ for £ up to £4 for the repairs, and this not being sufficient, Mr Browo moved, Mr Surridge seconded, and it was carried—“ That the Secretary write to the Board of Education stating that the ventilators had been repaired, and requesting a further grant of £ for £ up <o £2 to repair roof of the school, to v»hich the attention of the Committee was called by the deputation from the Board, n INSPECTOR'S REPORT. Th# Inspector’s report for the information of the Committee was read and discussed in Committee. Mr Russell moved —“That the Committee considers the jrepoct of ths Inspector vary satisfactory,”

This was seconded by Mr Lynch and carried unanimously. VISITORS. Mr Browi reported that he visited the school last. Friday, and was very much pleased with the discipline and order pre--1 vailing all through the school. He went to every class and found everything working very well indeed. Mr Davis was appointed visitor for the following month, IRREGULAR ATTENDANTS. The Chairman reported with regard to the list of forty ir r egular attendants placed in his hands at last meeting, he had sesn the majority of the parents and twenty-four of the children were now attending regularly. This was considered satisfactory, and the Chairman was requested to report further next month. Mr Russell considered, and other members concurred, that the thanks of the Committee were due to the Chairman for the trouble he had taken in the matter. SUPERINTENDENCE OP THE CHILDREN IN THE PLAYGROUND. Mr Lynch wished to know whether anything was to be done in the way of securing the attendance of a teacher with the children in the playground. The Chairman said he had spoken to Mr Bryars, the Head Master, about the matter, and he had promised that in future a teacher should be always with the children when they were in the playground. Members considered this necessary to prevent damage being done to the walls of the school, etc., everything now being in good repair. This completed the business and the meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
