AUCTIONEERS' REPORT.
TIMARU. Messrs Gracie, Maclean and Adam report for the fortnight ending Saturday as follows: At the Timnrn Horse Bazaar on the 23rd insfc., our entry of draughti was a small on«, nnd a few buyers did not get their wants supplied. At auction and privately to-day we cleared most of our entry at fair prices, and should the weather keep fine for a few weeks we may look forwaid to an improved demand for good farm sorts. Our sales are :- For medium to good draughts, £l7 to £25, and for one very fine gelding £35. There are very few light horses offering, but we have enquiries for upstanding weight carriers aid harness horses. Cattie—At "Waabdyke on Thursday the entry of fat was small and the quality only medium. We sold 10 head dteers and heifers at from £4 7s 6d to £5 2a 6d. The entry of stores was made up principally of yearlings and cows, and nearly all the lots changed hands at about former quotations. Sheep—There has been considerably more business doing both in fat and stores during the last fortnight than for some time back, and prices realised are much in favor of sellers. At Washdyke on Thursday we yarded and sold on account of various owners—Bl fat ewes at 7s, 60 at 6s 9d, 120 crossbred 2-tooths at 8s 3d, 40 do at 9a, 130 do at 8s lOd, 415 crossbred hoggets at from 6s 3d to 7s 3d, 160 crossbred wethers at Bs, 100 balfbred ewes in lamb at 6s 7d, and privately during the week we placed a number of freezers, hoggets, and 2-tooth crosßbreds.
Skins—At our regular sale on Wednesday we catalogued over 2000 skins. There was the usual number of buyers present, and prices were about equal to last sale, with a slight improvement for best sorts. Freezers and butchers' realised up to 4s 6d, country skins in proportion.
AUSTRALIAN MAEKBTS.
Sydney, July 21.
New Zealand wheat is quoted at Si 6d to 3s 9d ; Nev* Zealand oats, Is 9d to 2s 3d ; maize, 3s 4d ; potatoes, 30s to 455. The market is glutted with all kinds of produce. Adelaide, July 29.
Wheat is dull, at 3s 9d to 3s lOd. Country flour, £8 5s to £8 10s; town flour, £9 5s to £9 15s.
ENGLISH MARKETS.
London, July 28. Australian hides are in limited demand, and prices are | to £ lower. July 30.
The wheat market is dull, but prices remain steady. Australian stocks in store are selling at 34s 6d ; ex ship 345. Tbe cargo by tbe Adamant was sold at 83s. Four vessels with wheat cargoes arrived in port, waiting orders. Frequent showers have improved the wheat crop, Harvesting is proceeding.
Ju'y 31. New Zealand wheat is at 33s to 86s. Adelaide flour, ex store, remains at 245.
The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is l,7e0,0()0 quarters, and for the Continent 522,000 quarters. Australian Tallow—Average quality mutton has declined to 235. Beef remains at 225.
New Zealand frozen mntton, prime quality, remains at 3f 1 to 4d,
