SOUTH ORARI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the South Orari Shool Committee was held in the schoolroom on Monday evening. —Present—Messrs R. A. Barker (chairman), McLeod, Colas, Bisset, Brehons and Binskin.
The master’s report stated that for the past few weeks the attendance bad been unusually low, owing probably to the very wet weather. For last week the average attedancowas —Boys, 17.9 ; girls 16.8; total 34.7. Notices were authorised to” be served at once on the parents of irregular attendants.
A small supply of stationery wanted was ordered to be procured. The Chairman was empowered to arrange, if possible, to retain the services of the pupil teacher until next examination, his term being about to expire. The visitor had no report to presentMr McLeod was appointed visitor for next month.
The Hon. W. Rolleston, through Mr Bisset, applied for the use of the schoolroom for the purpose of addressing the electors.— Granted.
The Chairman reported having received from Mr Rolleston the sum of two £2 as a donation to the library fund.—Resolved ; “ That thanks of the Committee be conveyed to Mr Rolleston,”
The sum of £2 was also added to the library fund as the net proceeds of a dance conducted by Messrs Binskin and Behrens on the race night. Eighteen shillings were received from the dancing class (per Mr Binskin) for the use of the schoolroom to date. Accounts to the amount of£2 3s were passed for payment. The nett proceed? of the late concert amounted to about £8 sterling, and a sum of about £ls is in hand towards the library. There being no other business the meeting adjourned,
