MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Board was held in the Road Board office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 15th inst. Present —The Hon. J. B. Acland (Chairman), Messm R. Mackay, G. J. Dennistoun, and R. Thew. A letter was read from Mr G. G. Tripp, requesting leave of absence from the meeting of the Board, which w as granted. MINUTES. The minutes of the former meeting were read and confirmed. COKBESPONDBNCB, The following correspondence was read and considered :
Prom the Chief Surveyor, in referenco to closing the surveyed road, and opening a new road through reserve No. 2195, stating that the road cannot bo closed, as it gives access to Government land.
From the Commissioner of Property Tax, forwarding form of declaration for balance of subsidy on rates under the “ Local Bodies Finance and Powers Act.” —The declaration was signed by the Chairman, and ordered to bo returned to the Property Tax office. From the proprietor of the Timaru Evening Mail, soliciting a share of the Board’s advertising and printing.
From Mr J. Anderson, enclosing an account for repairs to stonecrusher.—The Clerk was directed to render the account to Mr Blair, as the work had been dona to his order. From Mr R. Blackadder, offering a price for the stonecrusher, which was accepted. From Mr J. Pye, submitting a price list of forest trees. INSTRUCTIONS. The Overseer was directed to attend to the following worksTo repair the crossing at the Lynn river, and protect the . concrete groin with boulders j !V to clear out the cutting in Peel Pereatj to inspect the road leading from the boundary road to Mr Tripp’s, and call for tenders for gravelling it if necessary ; to pick off big stones from the sides of the road adjoining Mr Thew’s fences on the Orari Gorge road. ABANDONED ROAD. The Clerk reported that he had,Been Mr Flatman about the purchase of the abandoned road in Peel Forest, but had not agreed with him as to the value. ' The Clerk was instructed to make out an account of the costs incurred in closing the road by next Board meeting. RATES. Resolved—“ That legal proceedings be taken for the recovery of all unpaid rates,*' ACCOUNTS. After passing accounts to the amount of £SO 9s 4d, the Board adjourned.
