The minutes ,of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read From the! Commissioner of Crown Lands; intimating that Lota 633,639, 681, 687, 689, 698,703, 707,708, 712, 766, and 781, each £ acre, being forfeited deferred payment sections in the township of Arowhenua, would be open for application on Friday, 6: h day of August, 1887. From the Tieasury Department, Wellington, enclosing declaration of rates collected, to be signed by tb« Chairman in accordance with "The Local Bodies Finance and Powers Act 1885 Amend. - , rnent Act 1866.” From Mr E . Brown, asking to have Mr Qumo’s name inserted on the roll in place of his in refeience to section No. 175, Stutholme Street. i From the Crown Lands Office, advising
the Board that the sum of £3O Is 7d, accruing from land sold in the Village Settlernent of Arowhenua from August Ist, 1886, (o January 3Jst, 1887, was in the bauds of the Receiver of Land Revenue, and was payable to the Board through the Gemldiue County Council. It also stated that it would be necessary
lo specify upon which road the money would be expended.—After some discussion, t was:resolved to spend the money in shingling Maud- strepi, and the Cterk was requested to intimate the same to tlie Waste Lands Board, as provided by Clause 127 Land Act 1885. From Mr W. Wyatt, enclosing account fdr wbrK done to the Board’s cottages,— Referred to the Clerk for verification. RESERVES. The Clerk staled that all the leases of the reserves werti. ready, but that there were still lo be signed. INTERVIEW.
Mr Hooper waited upon the Board in reference to Ute ; o vet flow of Abater near hiu premises. The drainage was very defective, and ho had suffered considerably through water backing up to his laud. He recommended u method of draining to the oreel^,—Aftey some disciissisn the ipatler was referred to the Overseer to repoi't at next meeting, and the Board promised to attend to the matter at the earliest opportunity. .ACCOUNTS, Accounts to the amount of £l6 8s 4d were passed for payment. STAMP. The Clerk was authorised to get a stamp fer the use of the Board. BATIf. llr Story ipoved—‘That this Board do at their next meeting strike a rate of one halfpenny in the & on “11 rateable property in the District. The same to be duly advertised^’ The meeting then terminated.
