IRISH AFFAIRS.
London, June 17. Last night’s sitting of the House of Commons was occupied by a discussion on the Bodyke evictions. The followers of Mr Parnell fiercely attacked the landlords, bitterly complaining of the violence displayed by the police, Mr Arthur Balfour, Chief Secretary for Ireland, defended the action of the police, declaring that if they had exceeded their duty it was because they had been provoked beyond endurance. O’Brien has returned to Queenstown, and from the steamer in which he landed the police arrested a man; who is supposed to bo a dynamiter, with combustibles in bis possession. June 18. In the House of Commons last night, at the hour appointed for the enforcement of Mr Smith’s motion that a Committee report on the Irish Crimes Bill, the followers of Mr Parnell left the House, Clause 6 was then adopted, by a majority of 169, and Mr Gladstone’s supporters who had taken part in the division left the House. The remainder of the Bill was adopted without a division; only the Oonser. vatives and the Unionist Liberals being present.
