TO-DAY’S PROCEEDINGS AT TEMUKA.
To-day ,the Volunteers will parade jat 9 B.m. and proceed to the Park, where , they. will fire a feu-de-joit in honor of Her , Majesty’s Jubilee, They will then be dismissed, to reassemble at 10.30 to ' take pwt in the procession. ■ ! 'The following is the ; final programme decided upon ait the meeting of the General Committee held last night;—Tbe procession, in the order suggested by the : .-.Committee at the last meeting, will pro!cecd to: the Park, where the band will 'take up* position immediately behind the she selected for the planting of ihe oik, and will, continue to play until thd ire- . Daintier of the prose scion are in tbe places " ‘ assigned to them by the Marshall, The oak will then be, planted by Messrs Gray and Lee, after which the band will-play “ Buie Britannia.” The : ceremony of . laying the foundation stone of the commemorative obelisk will then take place, and the Park will be re-named “ Victoria Park.” Speeches will be made by Messrs Gray, Lee, and Bollestcn, and the formal .proceedings will conclude with three cheers and the singing of the National Anthem. After the ceremonial the children will adjourn to the schobl, where they will be regaled with tea, cake, etc., after which toys will be distributed and sports Indulged in. At 6 o’clock there will a display of fireworks on tbe open space in front of the pound, aud in the evening u grand entertainment will be given in the Volunteer Hall. The programme is a choice and varied one, and in tbe course of the evening the presentation to the people of Temnka of a portrait of Her Majesty, ; painted by Dr Campbell, will be made by that gentleman, A Select Committee pf the Volunteers have arranged to hold a
ball at the conclusion of the entertainment. It was arranged th t the children should assemble at the High School at 9.30, and all others desirous of joining the procession should bo prepared to rtart from the Volunteer Hall at half-past ten.
