AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above Board was held last night. Present—Messrs Lee (Chairman), Austin, and Proudlook. MINUTES.

The minntei of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

DBIHBBBD PATMBNT SECTIONS. The following Jotter was read “ Wellington, May 21sfc, 1887.

"Dear Sib—l have been in communication with the Minister of Lands on the subject of the payment of one third of the defe’red payment moneys accrued in re-peot of lands sold in Arowhenus. I find that the Minister considered they were payable to the County, but he promised to reconsider the matter. I have no doubt I shall be able to get a clause into any amendment of the Land Act, or into the Special Powers Act, dealing with the question. Meantime 1 should advise the Board t» deal with the County Council in. respect to this £3O Is Id, asking the County Council to hand the money over for specified works within the Town District, —Yours faithfully, “ W. Bolimtok.” MISCELLANEOUS, Mr Wm. Hayfanrst waited on the Board te see whether anything could be done in regard to forming the footpath from the Government cottages to the bridge in Wilkin street.—The Overseer said it wanted repairing very muoh, and it was decided to do it at onoe,

The Overseer reported that the contract in Alexander street had been finished. There were several dangerous holes in the town, and he would suggest to fill them. The balance to credit wai £25 19s 2d.—lt was decided to authorise the Overseer to fill in the holes as suggested in his report.

Accounts to the amount of £39 10s 3d were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
