The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday j Wheatrr-Bmnnessbas not been quite so brisk during the past week, but ai there is comparatively litile in store prices arenot affected and are firm at last week’s values. Fowl wheat is not plentiful, aad a ready sale is obtainable for it. Quotations are; For prime milling, 3s lid to 4s j extra fine, Id more 3 medium, 3s 7d to 3s 101; fowl wheat, 3s fid to 3s 3d. Qata-wA ready safe is obtainable for short bright feed and milling fines. Values remain as lately quoted, and are as follow s—Prime heavy milling, Is 7|d to li 8d ; stout bright

Chaff —; cat oaten sheaf, £2 12s Cid ; ordinary, £2 7< 6d ; inferior, £2. * Potatoes—Northers, £2 2s 6d ; southerns, 37s 6d to £2. Grass Seed—Nothing doing. Butter —Keg butter, good, 7£d; fresh (in mixed ras's), 7d lo 81. Eggs—2s per doz. j sales slow. Sheepskins On Monday dry country crossbred skins brought £M to 3s lid ; do merino, 8d to 3s 7d ; pelts, Id lo 6d ; butchers’ green crossbreds, Is 9d to 3s Id ; do merinos, Is 8i to 2s 7d ; lambskins, Is 6d to 3s lOd. Hides—Quotations are ; For inferior and bulls’, lid to 2d ; light, 2id to 2i ; medium, 2fd to 3id ; heavy, 3fd to 4d. Tallow—The market is very quiet. Best rantton fetches 15s to 17s; mixed, 12s to 14s ; inferior, 10s to 11s 6d j rough fat, 5s to Ga 6d for inferior, and 7s to 8s tor best. DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following ebusiness was transacted : Fat Cattle—l 94 head were yarded, nearly all of which were good to prime quality. Competition throughout the sale was dull, and prices realised were from 10s to 20s below those current last week. Best bullocks b.-ought £6 5s to £8 10s (one pen extra heavy weights, £9 2s 6d) ; others, £2 15* to £6 7s 6d ; cows, £3 to £7 7s 6d —Donald Reid and Co. sold for Messrs M’Qoverin and Hardy (Waimate), 12 bullocks at £7 7a 6d. — Wright, Stephenson and Co. sold for Mr Robert M'Shana (Winchester), 6 heifers at from £4l2s 6d to £6; for Mr M. Quinn (Temuka), 7 bullocks at from £5 to £6. Eat Sheep—l3s7 yarded; bidding was brisk, and sales effected show a slight advance on late values. Crossbred wethers brought 6s 6d to 10s 3d ; do ewes, 5i to 9s 9d ; merinos, 2s lOd to 3s 9d.—L. Maclean sold for the executors of the late Mr M. Studholme (Waimate Estate), 133 crossbred ewes from 5s 9d to 6s 6d. Fat Lambs—Only 113 penned. These sold under keen competition at prices up to 8s 9d. Pigs—ll 3 forward, nearly all porker* and baconers; prices obtained were barely equal to those ruling last week. Baconers brought 28s to 35s 5 porkers, 16s to 225; stores and suckers, 6s 6d to 14s. ENGLISH MARKETS.
London, May 23. Adelaide -wheat, off coast, is 6d lower, 37s 6J ; Adelaide flour, 25s ; New Zealand wheat—lowest qualities, 33s ; best qualities, 37s 6d. Australian beef tallow, average quality, 225; mutton, 235. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) have received the following cablegram from London, dated 24th May 1887 : Wool- The Australian clip is inferior. Trade in the manufacturing districts is dull. The prospects of the domestic clip are good. Wheat—The tone of the market is fair. New Zealand wheat; average and longberried are worth respectively 36* and 37s per 4961 bs. Tallow—Market is quiet. Good mutton is worth 21s 6d, and good beef 20s 3d per cwt. . ‘ Leather—Market is unchanged. Frozen Meat—Market depressed. Stocks are in excess of requirements. Canterbury mutton and lamb are worth and sid respectively pot lb.
