INTERPROVINCIAL NEWS.
The Wellington ladies have decided to follow the lead of the other Australasian colonies in establishing a Jubilee Fund which will be devoted to the relief of women in distresp. A circular from Lady Jervois fully explaining the waole scheme will be «ent to ladies all over the colony. The Harbor Board at Invercargill have taken over the'dredge and sluicing apparatus for discharging silt at a distance from the dredger from the contractors, Messrs Kincuid and McQueen. The plant is small and only cost about £3OOO. The dredger is self-propelling by screw and works to 18 feet deep, it raises the silt for 4d per ton. A fire bioke out at Thornton's Confectionery Manufactory, Wellington, on Saturday morning. The building and the stock were insured for £l5O in the National. The estimated loss of stoek by fire and water iB £6OO. The following members of Parliament left Wellington on Saturday for Dunedin, to be present at the unveiling of the Burns' statute : —Sir George Grey, Hon. G. McLean, Messrs flatcb, Ivess, W. C. Walker, J. IX Lance, J. Mills, O'Callaghan, and McMillan.
