WOODBURY WATER RACE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, -Would you kindly allow me space in your valuable paper fora few remarks ra the Woodbury water race. Woodbury, being a rural township, 1 think, should be exempt from taxation for water race purposes, as water races are intended for sheep and cattle and not for drinking by human beings. I would ask your advice how to act in the matter. A petition has been signed by many of the inhabitants who are sorry now that they did so, as they will have to pay for what will not benefit them. I do not object to water races, but let those fay who get the benefit. [ may explain to you that Woodbury townsh'p has twenty freehold sections, and houses, while the land to be irrigated is in the hands of ten persons, so you will see the injustice of twenty township holdings having to pay for the benefit of ten rural holdings, - -I am, etc., A Ratepayer.
