THE AFGHAN DIFFICULTY.
Bombay, April 27. The latest news from Afghanistan states that the Ghilzai revolt is rapidly spreading. It is reported that the troops at Penjdeh hare been recently reinforced. Adelaide, April 28. I'be following items are to band by the mail, dated London, jMarcb 25th ; The Governor of Russian Turkestan is making a tour of the provinces under his rule, and decreasing the 1 taxes, heaping rewards on chiefs, aqd per* suading Khans to ally themselves closely with Russia by promising high offices in the event of a campaign against India. Great dissatisfaction prevails jamong the Ameer’s troops in the garrison at Herat, owing to their being paid in provisions instead of oath. Russian spies, it is asserted, are openly moving about Afghanistan, though the Ameer ir taking measures to check them.
In a circular copy which reached Bombay calling upon his subjects to raise a Holy War, the Ameer Abdurrahman denounces the Czar as a great tyrant, whose troops are daily advancing. The situation is greatly complicated by the fact that the Ameer is in very bad health.
