The Jubilee Celebration Committee have sent out 250 circulars to local bodies, Friendly, and oth«r Societies soliciting subscriptions towards the Memorial HoTie. - Considerable enthusiasm is dieplayed by some members, but three, who who disapprove of the establishment of the Home, have resigned. Notwithstanding this it is expected that a large sum will be raised. An accident occurred on the Buller road, 13 miles from vVestport, on Tuesday morning, at a place where men are making the road. A slip of thousands of tons came down burying one man and breaking both legs of another.Before the meeting of Parliament the resignation of Sir W. Fitzhorbert as Speaker of the L°gislative Council will be received, and the Hon. G. W. Waterhouse will be appointed to fill the vacancy.
